Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce players and staff raised the most money of any Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team during the MOvember campaign.

According to ca.movember.com, the official website for MOvember, the Sea Dogs raised $10,526 during the campaign, which concluded Monday afternoon.

The total is second-highest among all teams in the Canadian Hockey League.

Defenceman Michael Abbott compiled $5,705.46 to lead the Sea Dogs, and all individual fundraisers on MOvember's CHL network.

Forward Nathan Noel finished second on Saint John's list with $740.46 raised.

MOvember is an annual fundraiser which runs through November and early December. Its goal is to raise awareness of men's health issues, notably prostate and testicular cancer, and mental health challenges. During the campaign, men often show their support by growing a moustache, or "MO."

"As an organization, we're excited to be able to make a sizable contribution to MOvember," said Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. "Our players were eager to take part. Many thanks to our fans, friends and families for giving to a great cause."

The Sea Dogs would also like to recognize the Sea Dogs Foundation, which donated more than $1,700 to the players' fundraising efforts through several auctions of Wallace McCain Memorial Alumni Sea Dogs jerseys, and an unclaimed secondary prize from a 50/50 draw.

The full CHL MOvember campaign raised more than $159,000.
