San Diego Sockers News Release

The San Diego Sockers are proud to announce their participating sponsorship in this year's KYXY 96.5 FM Holiday of Miracles event benefiting Rady's Children's Hospital. As part of their sponsorship, the Sockers will hold a Holiday Toy Drive prior to their December 21st game against the Turlock Express, set for a 7:05pm kickoff at the Valley View Casino Center.

The first 250 people to donate a new, unwrapped toy will receive an exclusive ticket to a private postgame concert by Cody Lovaas, held in the Players' Lounge at the Valley View Casino Center. Tickets for the December 21st game between the Sockers and Express can be purchased by phone at (866) 799-GOAL, or online at www.sockers.com.

"I am super excited to put on a show that benefits Rady's Children's Hospital and the amazing things they do to help kids in need," said Lovaas of his upcoming concert.

"Please bring some toys and join me for a fun night of sports, music and helping other kids. I am so inspired by music and to have the opportunity to do something that can help kids inspires me even more."

Dallas born, San Diego-raised singer-songwriter Cody Lovaas has discovered a voice and pure direction that makes it hard to believe he's not even old enough to legally drive a car. His preferred means of travel is a surfboard, which carries him through crystalline days along the Pacific Coast. Influenced by artists such as Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Donovan Frankenreiter, the 15-year-old Lovaas seamlessly combines his love for music and surf into fluid blues-imbued acoustic machinations. Also a skilled ukulele player, Lovaas is beginning to carve out the early stages of a signature sound.

Lovaas will also perform on December 12th as part of KYXY's Holiday of Miracles event on-air, and San Diego Sockers goalkeeper Chris Toth will be on air at 8:50am to talk about his story of overcoming serious health issues as a youth through the help of Rady's Children's Hospital, rising to the status of starting professional goalkeeper.
