Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Red Deer Rebels 5-2 Tuesday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The win improves the Hitmen to 16-7-1-3 on the season and extends their winning streak to three games.
Goals from Dominik Volek and Rhyse Dieno in the opening minutes of the first period gave the visiting Rebels an early 2-0 lead. Calgary responded with five unanswered goals from Pavel Padakin, Chase Lang, Linden Penner, Radel Fazleev and Jake Virtanen. For Penner, his second-period goal marked the first of his WHL career. Padakin and Lang each added an assist to finish the night with two points.
Chris Driedger made 16 saves to record his third-straight win as the Hitmen outshot the Rebels 18-40.
The Hitmen now have a pair of home games this weekend, hosting the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. and the Portland Winterhawks on Sunday, December 8 at 4:00 p.m. Single game day tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office.
