Toronto FC Releases 2014 MLS Regular Season Schedule

Major League Soccer (MLS) announced Monday the complete regular season schedule for the 2014 season; which marks the 19th season in league history.

Toronto FC will open the eighth season in club history on Saturday, March 15 in Seattle against the Seattle Sounders FC. It will mark the eighth consecutive year the team will open the season on the road and the fifth time the club will open on the West Coast.

Toronto FC will host D.C. United on Saturday, March 22 to open the club's home schedule. The Reds hold an all-time record of 4-3-0 in home openers.

During the 2014 season, Toronto FC will play 26 matches on Saturdays, five on Wednesdays along with two Fridays and one Sunday. At home the club will play 14 matches on Saturdays, two on Wednesdays and one Sunday. There will also be a two-week break following the match on Saturday, June 7 against the San Jose Earthquakes to accommodate the group phase of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Nine of the Reds' 17 home matches will come against clubs that made the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs, including the Eastern Conference Champions, Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, July 26 and Western Conference finalist, Portland Timbers on Saturday, September 27.

Toronto will face Canadian rivals, Montreal Impact on Saturday, August 2 in Montreal, and on Saturday, October 18 in Toronto. The Reds will meet the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Wednesday, July 16 in Toronto.
