Falcons Extend Win Streak To Three

Lewiston, Maine - The Springfield Falcons (10-3-0-1) defeated the Portland Pirates in comeback fashion at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine Saturday night, earning a 2-1 shootout victory.

Mike McKenna improved to 4-2-0 this season, making 35 saves on 36 shots and denying four of five Portland attempts in the shootout.
In his first game back with the Falcons since being returned on loan by the Columbus Blue Jackets, Sean Collins notched the shootout winner. Cody Goloubef also added a shootout conversion.
With 3:46 remaining in the third period and Springfield trailing 1-0, Darryl Boyce evened the score with the team's fifth power-play goal in the last three games. The Summerside, Prince Edward Island native deflected a Goloubef slap shot past Portland netminder Mike Lee for his fourth tally of the 2013-14 campaign.
Gilbert Brule gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead at 5:48 of the third period, as he picked up a loose puck and scored on a shorthanded breakaway.
Springfield continued its success on special teams, going 1-for-5 on the power play and 7-for-7 on the penalty kill. Dating back to Sunday, November 10, the Falcons have recorded 17 consecutive successful penalty kills. The team's season mark is now at 90.5 percent.
With the victory, Springfield improved its winning streak to three games and has earned a victory in five of its last six contests, dating back to November 1.
The Falcons are back in action Friday, November 22 at the MassMutual Center to host the Albany Devils at 7:00 p.m. Springfield then hosts the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday, November 23, also at 7:00 p.m.
