Rebels Win 4-2 over Moose Jaw

The Rebels, returning home from a 3-3 road trip, sought to end their five game home ice losing streak versus Moose Jaw, who fell 6-2 in Edmonton on Thursday.

FIRST PERIOD

The Rebels struck first in this game while on the powerplay. With Tanner Eberle in the box for high sticking, Haydn Fleury's wrist shot from the point found its way through a screen and to the back of the Warriors net. Fleury's 4th goal of the season, assisted by Meyer Nell and Conner Bleackley, gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead at 4:30.

Red Deer scored again on special teams when Dominik Volek, while Adam Musil was in the sin bin for tripping, tucked a rebound past goalie Zachary Sawchenko for his 7th . Volek extended his point streak to five games on a goal assisted by Brady Gaudet and Wyatt Johnson at 9:45, 2-0 Rebels.

The Warriors cut the Rebels lead in half by scoring on just their second shot of the game. Alexy Slepstov netted his first ever WHL goal at 16:17, with assists from Sam Fioretti and Jesse Forsberg, to make it 2-1.

SECOND PERIOD

The Rebels restored their two goal lead when Matt Bellerive netted his 6th of the season. Bleackley picked up his second assist of the night on the goal at 6:38, 3-1 Rebels.

Moose Jaw battled back within a goal when Travis Brown sprung Brayden Point on a breakaway with a bullet pass. Point deked out Patrik Bartosak for his 9th of the year at 15:53. Dallas Valentine also assisted on the goal which made it a 3-2 game.

THIRD PERIOD

For the second time in the game, a player scored his first ever WHL goal when Meyer Nell blasted a one-timer past Sawchenko. Johnson and Vukie Mpofu earned the assists on the goal which gave the Rebels a 4-2 lead at 4:47.
