Carter's Head Shave Raises $15,000 for Canadian Cancer Society

A total of $15,000 has been raised for the Canadian Cancer Society after Stampeders linebacker Yannick Carter volunteered to have his head shaved for the cause.
Carter had the dreadlocks he has been sporting since he was a teenager shaved off on Sunday at Shark Club Deerfoot Meadows and raised money through on-line donations by fans and companies.
"I am so happy with how everything turned out and I would like to thank everyone including Shark Club Deerfoot Meadows for hosting the event to Maddpretty for cutting my hair and especially to everyone who generously contributed to the cause," said Carter. "Everyone says I look younger now, so this was a true win-win situation."
The $15,000 brings this year's PinkPower program total to $52,000 raised for the Canadian Cancer Society and the battle against women's cancers. That figure will grow even more after the on-line auction sale of special game-used pink gear is completed.
The Stampeders host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West Division final on Sunday, Nov. 17. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are available at Stampeders.com.
