Columbus Lions News Release

COLUMBUS, GA, Nov. 8 -- Columbus Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson is elated to announce the signing of eight-year veteran arena/indoor football star Roshawn Marshall for the 2014 PIFL season. Marshall, a first-team PIFL defensive back last season with Richmond, has 45 career interceptions and played in five Arena Bowls, winning two with the Spokane Shock in 2008-09.

"Roshawn is an elite player in our league with a lot of experience," Gibson said. "We led the PIFL in team defensive interceptions last year and now we are adding Roshawn to that mix. It will definitely be the best defensive backfield in the league, and we're excited to get Roshawn involved in the community and local schools."

Marshall's seven interceptions last season ranked second in the PIFL to former Lions DB Anthony Shutt, who is now with Orlando (AFL). The Lions currently have under contract the top three defensive backs in the league with a combined total of 19 interceptions.

Marshall, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, played on a national junior college championship team at College of the Canyons in 2006, where he was the first player in school history to be named JUCO First-Team All-American at two positions (defensive back and return specialist). He also played at Central Missouri State University, spent 2007 on the practice squad of the CFL Calgary Stampeders and had NFL tryouts with the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
