Penguins Recall Mannino from Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that goaltender Peter Mannino has been recalled from loan from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

Mannino stopped 21-of-22 shots over two periods of play during the Nailers' 4-3 preseason loss to the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday. Signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on July 24, the sixth-year pro went 10-7-0 in 20 games with the Manchester Monarchs last season, while recording a 2.47 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.

Mannino has played a total of 159 AHL contests between Bridgeport, Chicago, St. John's, Portland and Manchester, and established a career record of 81-52-8 with four shutouts, a 2.83 GAA and a .905 save percentage. The 29-year old has appeared in six NHL games with the New York Islanders, Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets and also skated in 31 ECHL games with the Utah Grizzlies and Chicago Express.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins take the ice for their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:05 p.m. as they face off against the Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
