Houston Dynamo FC News Release

Two Eastern Conference rivals played to a 0-0 draw as the Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City were held scoreless on Wednesday night at BBVA Compass Stadium. The Dynamo remain in third place in the Eastern Conference with two games remaining.

The Dynamo (13-10-9; 48 points) remain four points behind Sporting Kansas City (15-10-7; 52 points) and five points back of the New York Red Bulls (15-9-8; 53 points). Houston has a two point lead over the Montreal Impact (13-10-7; 46 points) and is three points clear of the Philadelphia Union (12-10-9; 45 points). Both clubs play this weekend.

Houston created a scoring chance in the second minute of the game. Bobby Boswell drove a ball forward that was headed from Ricardo Clark back to Will Bruin. The Dynamo forward slalomed into the penalty area before driving a low shot that forced a quick save from Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.

Four minutes later, Giles Barnes lofted a pinpoint pass from the left flank to the right side of the six-yard box. Bruin settled the cross and drove a shot toward the far post that required another foot save from Nielsen before it skidded just past the far post.

The Dynamo came close again in first half stoppage time. Brad Davis took a free kick 25 yards from goal that bent over the wall toward the right side of the goal, where it was bound for the net before it was headed off the line by defender Aurelien Collin.

Houston continued to create chances in the second half. In the 58th minute a free kick from Davis was headed by Boswell wide of the near post from six yards.

Ten minutes later, a nice sequence between Kofi Sarkodie and Ricardo Clark resulted in a chance for Bruin in behind the defense. But Nielsen made the save again, sliding to block Bruin's shot from the right side of the penalty area.

The draw extended the Dynamo's unbeaten streak to five games in MLS play (3-0-2) and six games in all competitions.

Tally Hall recorded his second consecutive shutout and ninth clean sheet of the season.

The Dynamo have this weekend off before completing the regular season home schedule on Sunday, Oct. 20 against the first place New York Red Bulls at 2 p.m. CT at BBVA Compass Stadium.
