Arizona Fall League to Hold Bowman Hitting Challenge

October 4, 2013 - Arizona Fall League (AzFL)

Scottsdale, Arizona - The Arizona Fall League's inaugural Bowman Hitting Challenge will be staged at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, October 12 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

Sponsored by Bowman Baseball Cards, the novel home-run derby features one 2013 Fall League player from each organization in Major League Baseball.

Format

Each batter has two minutes to hit off live pitching.

Points will be awarded for home runs on a sliding scale of difficulty valued between 100-500 points.

Participants also can accumulate points by hitting a variety of targets placed around the playing field with a batted ball.

Hitters will be penalized for foul balls.

Batters must bunt the first four pitches at targets.

Following each two-minute hitting period, the batter will be given one free swing at the Bowman Bonus Ball placed on a batting tee. The Bowman Bonus Ball is worth double points.

Wounded Warrior Project

Following the third of the night's six hitting groups, three batters from the Wounded Warrior Project will be given the opportunity to compete with the young professional hitters from the Fall League.

Tickets

Tickets are available at the Salt River Fields ticket office beginning at 5 p.m. when the stadium opens.

Fans can "buy one, get one free" (up to eight tickets) at the league's regular single-game prices of $7 for adults, $6 for seniors (55+) and youth (17 & under). Fall League season passes will be honored.
