Columbus Crew Forward Dominic Oduro Voted MLS Player of the Week

September 30, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release

NEW YORK (Monday, September 30, 2013) - Columbus Crew forward Dominic Oduro was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for week 31 of the 2013 MLS season.

Dominic Oduro played a critical role in the Crew's 4-2 win over FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium Sunday night, scoring a goal and adding an assist to keep Columbus in playoff contention.

Oduro beat his defender down the flank with a give-and-go and sent a low cross into the penalty area to Jairo Arrieta in 17th minute. Arrieta put the ball on his left foot and blasted the ball into the roof of the goal to extend the Crew's lead to 2-0.

In the 44th minute, Oduro scored the game-winning goal when he deftly touched the ball around his defender, dribbled into the penalty area and slotted the ball near post.

The Columbus Crew are back in action Saturday, October 5 when they face Sporting Kansas City at home (7:30 p.m. ET).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
