Musketeers 2013-14 Captains Announced
September 26, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Sioux City Musketeers News Release
The Musketeers are pleased to announce that Trevor Olson has been named the Captain of their 2013-14 team. The second year forward from Duluth Minnesota has put up 17 goals and 33 assists in 70 USHL games. Initially drafted by the Green Bay Gamblers in the 2011 USHL Entry Draft, Olson played in 7 games as an affiliate for Green Bay in the 2011-12 season. Last season, he played in 31 games for the Gamblers before being traded to Sioux City in January. The move to Sioux City proved fruitful for the University of North Dakota recruit. He tripled his points total in the second half of the season as the Musketeers found their groove.
There will be 2 sets of Alternate Captains this season after a structure change in the leadership hierarchy by Head Coach and General Manager Jay Varady. Jake Montgomery and Jared Thomas will be the Alternate Captains for home games. Cedric Lacroix and Blake Heinrich will be the Alternate Captains for road games.
Roster Update
Waltteri Hopponen joined the team this week after being trimmed from the Everett Silvertips roster. Hopponen is listed on the NHL's "Players to Watch" list for 2013-14. Defenseman Ryan Mantha is also listed on the "Players to Watch" list.
Affiliate Report
No affiliates will be suited for this weekend's game in Dubuque.
