Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have acquired 1B/DH Chase Burch from the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League for a player to be named later and cash considerations.

Burch, 27, batted .264 with 18 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 66 RBIs and 61 runs scored in 92 games for Traverse City in 2013. He ranked 5th in the league in walks with 64 and posted a .387 on-base percentage. Burch was selected to play in the Frontier League All-Star Game and helped lead the Beach Bums to the third-best record in the league and a playoff berth.

Burch has played the last four seasons in Traverse City and leaves as the franchise leader in games played, at-bats, runs scored, home runs and RBI. In four years with the Beach Bums, he has batted .282 with 70 doubles, five triples, 68 home runs, 285 RBIs, 243 runs scored and 262 walks in 350 games.

Burch began his professional career in the American Association in 2009 with the Pensacola Pelicans after completing his college career at Auburn University at Montgomery (AL). That season, he batted .341 with 20 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 65 RBIs and 60 runs scored in 90 games. Burch was named Rookie of the Year and was selected to the American Association All-Star Team following the season.

"Chase does a lot of good things offensively. He hits for power, gets on base and can score a run," said RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic. "We want him to continue to do the things he has done his whole career with Fargo-Moorhead in 2014."
