Lynx Forward Rebekkah Brunson Named to WNBA All-Defensive Second Team

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The WNBA today announced Rebekkah Brunson was selected to the 2013 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. Selected by the WNBA's 12 head coaches, the All-Defensive First Team is highlighted by Tamika Catchings (Indiana), Angel McCoughtry (Atlanta), Sylvia Fowles (Chicago), Armintie Herrington (Atlanta) and Tanisha Wright (Seattle). Meanwhile Brunson is joined on the Second Team by Glory Johnson (Tulsa), Erika de Souza (Atlanta), Briann January (Indiana), Jia Perkins (San Antonio) and Danielle Robinson (San Antonio.

Wrapping up her fourth year in Minnesota and 10th in the WNBA, Brunson averaged 10.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in 33 games this season. She matched her own single-season record for double-doubles with 12, improving her career total to 41 in a Lynx uniform (a club record) and 67 in her WNBA career. This season Brunson tallied 1.3 steals per game, her best per-game average since the 2009 season, while her 0.9 blocks matched the second-highest single-season average of her career. She posted 12 multi-steal games this season, including swiping a season-high four twice (MR: Aug. 6 at San Antonio).
