Houston Dynamo FC News Release

HOUSTON (Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013) - The Houston Dynamo face Chivas USA tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. CT at BBVA Compass Stadium in a match presented by Novo Nordisk. Tickets are available at www.HoustonDynamo.com, by calling 713-276-GOAL, or at the stadium ticket office (2200 Texas St., Houston) from noon through kickoff on Saturday. Tomorrow's game is the final Saturday home game of the regular season.

The game will be broadcast live on KPRC Local 2 (7 p.m. pregame) and can be heard on Yahoo Sports Radio 1560 AM and La Ranchera 850 AM (Spanish).

After playing four of five league games on the road, the Dynamo will finish the season with four of six league games at BBVA Compass Stadium, beginning tomorrow.

The Dynamo (11-10-7; 40 points) are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference after a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union last Saturday at PPL Park. Houston is five points behind Sporting Kansas City (45 points) and the Montreal Impact (45 points), a point above the Chicago Fire (39 points) and Philadelphia Union (39 points) and three points ahead of the New England Revolution (37 points). The top five clubs in each conference qualify for the playoffs.

Tomorrow is the first meeting between Houston and Chivas USA since March, 11, 2012, the opening day of the 2012 season. Saturday will mark 559 days since that game, when the Dynamo seized a dramatic 1-0 road win as Andre Hainault scored two minutes into stoppage time.

The Dynamo are 10-2-5 in regular season meetings with Chivas USA, including a perfect 7-0-2 home record and 18-2 goal difference in home games. The former Western Conference rivals squared off in the 2006 Western Conference semifinals, a 3-2 aggregate series victory for Houston.

Chivas USA is 3-3-4 in its last ten games, beginning with the debuts of forward Erick "Cubo" Torres and defender Carlos Bocanegra on July 17. Torres, 20, was loaned from the club's sister club - Chivas de Guadalajara - on July 10 and has made an instant impact on MLS, scoring 7 goals in his first 10 games with the Goats, including two-goal performances in consecutive games - a 3-2 win over New York on Aug. 25 and a 2-2 draw at Vancouver on Sept. 1. Torres was the captain of the Chivas Guadalajara U-17 team and made his senior team debut at 17 years of age.

Bocanegra was captain of the U.S. men's national team and has made 110 appearances for the U.S., including important roles at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and 2009 Confederations Cup. After five seasons with the Chicago Fire, Bocanegra spent 10 seasons in Europe, including stints with Fulham (England), Rennes (France), Rangers (Scotland) and most recently Racing Santander (Spain).

Houston midfielder Boniek Garcia is available for selection after missing the last three games due to international duty and a one-game suspension.

Following Sunday's game, the Dynamo will resume CONCACAF Champions League play with an important group stage game against W Connection of Trindad and Tobago on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT at BBVA Compass Stadium.
