Tracy Tees Off As Revs Win Third Straight

September 12, 2013 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

Chad Tracy belted a pair of home runs as the York Revolution powered past the Sugar Land Skeeters, 8-4 on Wednesday night in front of 4,525 fans at Constellation Field. The Revs have now won three consecutive games including each of their first two contests in Texas. With just four games remaining in the 2013 season, the series continues in Sugar Land on Thursday night.

York grabbed a quick first inning lead on a two-run double to right field by Wilson Batista to open the scoring.

Sugar Land answered with a first inning run on a groundout by Travis Scott and a second inning run on a solo homer to left by Domonic Ramos, tying the game at 2-2.

York quickly retook the lead as Mark Teahen ripped a two-out RBI single up the middle in the top of the third, handing the Revs a 3-2 edge.

Sugar Land responded with two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Steve Moss and Koby Clemens both crossed the plate on passed balls. Moss reached on an error to leadoff the inning, which proved to be only a blip on an otherwise solid defensive night.

Tracy cracked his first home run of the night, a solo shot to left field in the top of the fifth, evening the score once again at 4-4.

Tracy's first long ball came in between a fourth and sixth inning in which the Revs loaded the bases but failed to score, grounding into inning-ending double plays each time. Fortunately for the Revs, the home run was one of several big hits on the night as Kody Kirkland broke the tie with a two-run double to deep left in the seventh off reliever Roy Corcoran (6-4), and Tracy added his second blast, a two-run shot to left field in the eighth to provide the 8-4 final.

York starter Anthony Claggett was solid, allowing four runs but only two earned in 5.2 innings. York's bullpen pitched scoreless ball with Edward Paredes (2-2) earning the victory.

Notes: Tracy's multi-homer game is his second with the Revs... with three RBI on the night, Tracy has now driven in 14 runs in his last 10 games... the Revs added to their league-lead, having now hit 70 home runs on the road this season in just 67 games, approaching the club record of 73 home runs hit on the road last season... York's eight runs are the team's most in a game since a 10-5 win at Long Island on August 15... the Skeeters turned four double plays, matching the most turned by a Revs opponent in a game this season (June 5, also in a win vs. Sugar Land)... the Revs drew seven walks for the second consecutive game... Sugar Land had won 14 consecutive home games before dropping the first two of the current series to the Revs, their first two home losses since August 1... the three-game winning streak is the Revs' first since winning five straight, August 6-10... York has overtaken Southern Maryland by half a game for the Atlantic League's fourth best overall record... the Revs will send Pedro Liriano (6-4, 4.89) to the mound on Thursday against Skeeters lefty Jason Lane (8-3, 2.80)... first pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET and Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 7:45 p.m. ET with Darrell Henry on the call.
