Denver Outlaws News Release

DENVER - The Outlaws have acquired midfielder Dom Sebastiani and a first-round pick (8th overall) in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft from the Chesapeake Bayhawks in exchange for defenseman Brian Megill, the team announced on Monday.

"Dom Sebastiani makes us a better all-around lacrosse team and especially at the defensive end of the field," General Manager Tony Seaman said. "He had an outstanding playoff with the Bayhawks and will be a positive addition to our team. We also were looking to make our team younger through the college draft and by picking up a first round draft choice this trade will help us accomplish that goal."

Denver now has three draft picks in the first two rounds of the 2014 Collegiate Draft, which will take place on Friday, Jan. 10 in Philadelphia.

Sebastiani completed his first MLL season in 2013, picking up five ground balls in five regular-season games and one playoff contest for the Bayhawks. He appeared in the team's 10-9 victory in the league's championship game.

The 6-foot, 190-pound midfielder was drafted 32nd overall by the Bayhawks during the 2013 Collegiate Draft out of Delaware.

"I've only heard positive things about the Outlaws organization and played there once this past season," Sebastiani said. "It is such an amazing stadium. I think my game fits well with Outlaws. They like a fast, transition-style of lacrosse and I've always loved playing like that. "

Megill played nine games for Denver as a rookie in 2013. His 26 ground balls ranked sixth on the squad and his nine appearances tied Eric Law for the most games by a rookie last season. Megill was drafted by Denver in the first round (7th overall) in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft.

Monday's trade marks the second deal between the Outlaws and Bayhawks of the 2013-14 offseason. Denver acquired attackman John Grant Jr., defenseman Michael Simon and the 16th pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft from the Bayhawks in exchange for attackman Brendan Mundorf on Friday, Sept. 6.

The club also assigned midfielder Landon Carr to its practice squad and waived midfielder Dylan Sheridan on Monday.
