C.J. Ziegler Voted Player of the Year

WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' first baseman C.J. Ziegler has been voted the American Association's 2013 Player of the Year.

Ziegler had an historic 2013 in which he set an American Association single-season record with 30 home runs. The 27-year-old slugger hit .318 and also topped the league with 99 RBI. Ziegler finished tied for fourth in runs scored (81), tied for fourth in doubles (32), tied for fifth in walks (58), tied for ninth in on-base percentage (.408), and second in slugging percentage (.645).

The Tucson, AZ native hit safely in 73 of 100 games and reached base with a hit, walk, or hit by pitch in 88 of them. Ziegler totaled 39 multi-hit contests while collecting multiple RBIs 25 times. On August 21st at Gary SouthShore, Ziegler hit for the first cycle in franchise history. Ziegler had three hitting streaks of seven or more games and was twice named the American Association's Batter of the Week.
