Comcast SportsNet to Present Special D.C. United Original Programming

Washington, D.C. (August 31, 2013) - D.C. United and Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic today announced that the network will present special D.C. United original programming beginning this weekend. Debuting on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m., "SportsNet in Focus: Behind the Badge" will provide viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at some of the players, fans and stories from D.C. United's 2013 season. Part 2 of the series will air in October.
"Courtesy of our partners at Comcast SportsNet, 'Behind the Badge' allows viewers exclusive access and the opportunity to gain insight into the character, personality and vision of all involved at D.C. United," said D.C. United Chief Marketing Officer Doug Hicks. "We're excited by this project and look forward to its debut this weekend."
The first episode of "Behind the Badge" will examine four unique aspects of the club: midfielder John Thorrington as a full-time soccer professional and father, a gameday experience in midfielder Luis Silva's shoes, United's supporter group culture and Joe Willis showing CSN reporter Michael Jenkins what it takes to be a goalkeeper in MLS. The program is set to encore six times: Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 11 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7 at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 9:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
