El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- Game one of the Diablos-Saltdogs series did disappointment as both teams went back and forth before the Diablos came away with the thrilling win in the ninth inning, 7-6!

After the first three innings the game was tied at 2-2, with the only indication that it was going to be a close game. The Diablos scored one run in the first two innings to take a quick 2-0 lead, but the Saltdogs came back with a two run third inning to tie the game at 2-2.

Throughout the next three innings, the Diablos jumped out to a one run lead over the Saltdogs at 5-4, at this point starting pitcher Jesse Estrada was pulled from the game after solid work going 5.0 innings only giving up three runs, with four strikeouts.

The last three innings proved to be the most exciting part of the game, as the Saltdogs tied the game twice, going into the ninth inning, after the Saltdogs failed to score with two runners on in the top of the ninth inning, the Diablos seized the opportunity. With two on and no one out catcher Juan Apodaca stepped to the plate and produced the game winning hit, and an early series lead for the Diablos.

The Diablos are now 35-53 this season, as they take a 1-0 series lead over the Lincoln Saltdogs with two more games to play. The Diablos play tomorrow night, 7:05 here at Cohen Stadium!
