THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia dropped the series finale against the Hickory Crawdads Monday evening by a 5-3 final. The Power plated the first run of the game in the fifth inning when third baseman Chris Diaz hit an RBI single, scoring Jonathan Schwind. The Crawdads, however, scored two runs in their next turn at-bat and took a 2-1 lead on a sacrifice and an error. In the seventh inning, Dilson Herrera led off the Power half with a double to left center and later scored when Raul Fortunato hit a single up the middle. With the game tied 2-2, Fortunato scored on Diaz' second RBI of the game to give the Power a lead. Hickory took the lead in the ninth inning thanks to back-to-back home runs by Lewis Brinson and David Lyon off Cesar Lopez.

PLAYOFF CHASE: Hagerstown split their doubleheader Tuesday with the Asheville Tourists. The Suns' loss in game one temporarily put West Virginia a half game ahead in the division. After the Power lost the game and the Suns won game two, the Power remain a half game back. West Virginia lead Hickory by 1.5 games overall in standings.
