Can-Am League Results

August 16, 2013 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)

Quebec 4, Newark 3

An RBI double from Quebec 3B Jonathan Malo in the bottom of the ninth sent this one to extra innings, where the Capitales overcame the Bears 4-3 in the tenth. DH Rene Leveret provided the game-winning, walk-off RBI single.

Newark held a lead for much of the game, starting early with a two-run homer from RF Jonny Kaplan in the top of the first. After the Capitales finally leveled the score in the fifth, Kaplan found his way to home plate for the second time of the night in the sixth and drove the Bears back into the lead until Malo's double in the ninth. Despite the Bears' loss, Kaplan had the most impressive batting performance of the night, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

New Jersey 3, Trois-Rivieres 2

The Jackals narrowly edged the Aigles 3-2 behind a six-inning shutout from RHP Lucas Irvine and a game-winning run in the seventh. Irvine notched five strikeouts and allowed just five hits in his six innings, keeping the Aigles off the scoreboard. Back to back solo home runs in the second from RF Bryan Sabatella and 1B Chris Duffy gave New Jersey an early lead.

Following Irvine's replacement, a two-run single from C Emerson Frostad allowed Trois-Rivieres to tie things up in the seventh. In the next frame, an RBI single from 2B Jose Cuevas put the Jackals back on top. RHP Tim Adleman then earned the save for New Jersey, pitching the ninth inning and striking out all three batters he faced.

Lincoln 2, Rockland 2 (Bottom 12 - In Progress)

The inter-league game between the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Rockland Boulders is still in progress with the two teams tied 2-2 in the bottom of the twelfth inning.
