Rome, GA - The Braves lost to the Riverdogs 8-4 on Friday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of a crowd of 3,368

The Riverdogs took the lead in the second on a RBI double by Reymond Nunez to make the score 1-0. Charleston tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Jake Cave and Greg Bird to take the lead 3-0. Rome answered with two runs in the fifth on a bases loaded single by Jose Peraza, which allowed both Tyler Tewell and Ronald Luna to score to shrink the lead to one run.

The Riverdogs extended their lead again by one run in the sixth. Nunez doubled and later scored on a Jackson Valera single. The Braves fought back with a run in the sixth. Edison Sanchez walked to lead off the inning and later crossed the plate on a Tyler Tewell single making the score 4-3.

Charleston quickly answered in the seventh with a two run home run by Bird to right field to give the Riverdogs the three run lead. Rome made it a 6-4 game in the seventh. Felix Marte smacked a double to lead the inning off and scored later in the inning on a throwing error by Dante Bichette.

Charleston added two insurance runs in the ninth thanks to a throwing error by Peraza for the 8-4 final as Rome couldn't score in the bottom of the inning. Evan Rutckyj (10-8) received the win tonight, and Wes Parsons (5-7) got the loss. Vicente Campos picked up his second save on the year.
