August 2, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

The Alaska Aces have acquired the rights to forward Jean-Michel Rizk from the Fort Wayne Komets, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Friday. The deal completes an earlier trade that sent Bobby Hughes to Fort Wayne for future considerations on July 29. Rizk is a former NHL seventh round draft pick, who is entering the third season of his pro career. The Aces will begin the 2013-2014 season at home on Friday, October 18 at Sullivan Arena when they host the San Francisco Bulls. Season ticket and sponsorship packages are currently available through the Aces office at 15th & Gambell. Rizk, 27, finished third in goals and fourth in points last season with the Komets. The 6'1", 195 lbs. forward finished the season with 34 points (19g, 15a) in 66 games. His play earned him a five game call up to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League late in the season. Two seasons ago as a rookie, Rizk helped the Komets to a CHL Championship, playing alongside last year Aces Tommy Mele and Dustin Molle. In his first pro campaign, the Dunham, Ontario native scored 20 goals and added 11 assists in 55 games. He also finished the championship playoff run with 14 points (7g, 7a) in 18 games. He remained with the club last year after their summer transition to the ECHL.

Prior to turning pro, Rizk played five seasons of junior hockey in the OHL, followed by four seasons at the Canadian University, Wilfrid Laurier. During his junior career, Rizk represented Team Canada in the 2004 Under-18 World Junior Championship. That same year he was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round of the NHL Draft, with the 195th overall pick. Following his OHL career, he played three games for the Flint Generals in the now-defunct United Hockey League in 2007. He then added seven games with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL following his collegiate career. Overall in his pro career he has 65 points (39g, 26a) in 136 games.
