Sharks Announce Two SigningsAugust 2, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) Worcester Sharks
SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has re-signed forward Bracken Kearns to a one-year contract.
In 2012-13 Kearns played in one regular season and seven postseason games for San Jose. Kearns played in 66 games with the Worcester Sharks in the AHL, finishing first on the team with 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists). Along with leading the team in overall point-scoring, Kearns posted team-leading numbers in goals, assists and power play goals (11).
The 32 year-old Kearns has played in six career NHL games with San Jose and Florida, recording 10 penalty minutes. In 473 career AHL games, Kearns has registered 266 points (110 goals, 156 assists) and 496 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-one, 205-pound native of Vancouver, BC was signed by the Sharks as a free agent on July 2, 2012. He originally signed his first NHL contract with Phoenix on July 6, 2010.
SHARKS RE-SIGN FORWARD MAREK VIEDENSKY
SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has re-signed forward Marek Viedensky to a one-year contract.
In 2012-13, Viedensky played with both the Worcester Sharks of the AHL and the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL. In Worcester, Viedensky played 14 games and registered six points (four goals, two assists), four penalty minutes and a +4 rating. In San Francisco he registered 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists), 22 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.
In 2011-12 during his AHL rookie season, Viedensky played 52 games and picked up 11 points (five goals, six assists) as well as 14 penalty minutes.
The 22 year-old Viedensky has played in 66 career AHL games with Worcester, recording 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) and 18 penalty minutes. He has represented Slovakia at the World Junior Championships (2010, 2009) and the U-18 World Junior Championships (2008).
The six-foot-three, 210-pound native of Handlova, Slovakia was selected by San Jose in the seventh round (189th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft.
