TONIGHT'S GAME: After dropping two games in a row for the first time since July 8-9 (@ SWB), the Wings will look to salvage the series finale Friday night (7:05 p.m.) against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA... Despite suffering back-to-back losses, the Wings remain 1.0-game up in the IL North after Pawtucket also lost to Norfolk for a 2nd straight day on Thursday... Rochester is still 20-8 over their last 28 affairs and 41-23 since May 27 -- the 2nd best mark in the IL over that span (DUR)... Lehigh Valley improved to 7-11 over their last 18 games and find themselves 3.5 GB of ROC in the division and 2.5 GB of the Wild Card.

¨The Wings will return home Saturday (7:05 pm) for a brief two-game set against Syracuse before hitting the road for a mammoth 11-game, 12-day road trip beginning Monday in Durham.

WITH A WIN TONIGHT, THE WINGS...:

¨Will avoid losing three straight games for the first time since a four-game skid June 28-July 2 (1)

¨Will earn a split of this 4-game set and finish 10-6 against the 'Pigs in 2013... Either way, with the Wings win on Tuesday over LHV, Rochester wrapped up their first season series victory over the IronPigs since 2008 (11-5)... Had been just 26-38 since '09

¨Will avoid losing a series for the first time since dropping 2 of 3 to SWB from 7/8-10 -- a span of 5 series (3-0-2) ... Will avoid losing a four-game series for the first time since losing 3 of 4 to TOL from 6/8-11 -- a span of 7, 4-G series (5-0-2).

¨Will avoid losing a series for the first time all season when winning the opener... Currently 8-0-4 when winning the lid-lifter.

MORE ROSTER SHAKEUPS: After the Twins optioned a trio of players (Arcia, Escobar & Parmelee) to Rochester just prior to the All-Star break, Minnesota sent down two more on Thursday optioning LHP Scott Diamond and OF Aaron Hicks... OF Oswaldo Arcia, who went 15-for-40 (.375) with 4 HR and 13 RBI in 13 G since his option, was recalled for a 4th time this season... The Twins will announce another roster move on Saturday to fill the rotation spot left vacant by Diamond's demotion... Diamond was just 5-10, 5.52 ERA in 20 GS with the Twins this season -- including just 0-4, 6.00 ERA (24 ER/36.0 IP) over his last 7 GS... Diamond, who led the Twins with 12 victories a season ago, is 8-15, 4.91 ERA (86 ER/157.2 IP) in 33 career GS with the Red Wings...Hicks, just 7-for-43 (.163) since the All-Star break, returns to Rochester where he played 6 games (4-21; .191) earlier this season rehabbing a strained left hamstring... On the season Hicks was hitting just .192 in 81 games, but ranked in the top three of several offensive categories among AL rookies including leading in runs (37), T-1st in SB (9), 2nd in XBH (22; 8 HR, 3 3B, 11 2B) and BB (24), and 3rd in HR (8) & TB (95)... His 9 OF assists were the most in the AL and T-2nd in the MLB at time of option... He made the jump from Double-A to the Major Leagues with a huge spring training in 2013 where he hit .370 (27-73) with 6 2B, 4 HR & 18 RBI in 22 G.

GETTING DEFENSIVE: The Wings extended their season-high errorless streak to 12 G and 107 innings on Wednesday... The Wings haven't committed an error since James Beresford's fielding error in the 7th inning on 7/20 @ SYR... The Wings committed just 8 E in July (leading to just one unearned run in the entire month) and have only made 14 since June 16 - a span of 45 G... ROC has the best fielding % in the IL (.984) and have made the fewest errors in all of MiLB this season (66)... The last time the Wings committed multiple errors in a game was June 15 vs GWN (3 E)... Rochester is on pace to make just 83 E in '13 -- it would be their lowest total since at least the 1980 season... Since '80, the least amount of errors committed in a season by a Wings team was 93 in '03.

MORE ABOUT LAST NIGHT...:

¨Josmil Pinto made his Triple-A debut going 0-for-4 with a SO & 2 GIDP as the Wings DH in the 6-hole.

¨Deibinson Romero's 7-game hit streak was snapped as he went 0-for-3 with a walk and left a team-high 5 men on base... Over the streak he hit .481 (13-for-27) with 2HR, 4 2B, 5R & 7RBI.

¨Pete Orr stole just the 2nd base against the Red Wings since July 12 (17 G)... LHV's Derrick Mitchell stole the other one on 7/30.

FOR STARTERS: The Wings rotation is 5-2 with a 2.95 ERA (21 ER/64.0 IP) over the last 9 games. In 4 of those 9 GS, Wings starters have worked into the 8th inning .. If you take out Nick Blackburn's lone outing for the Wings last Tuesday vs LHV (5.0ip, 10h, 6r/er) before going on the DL Saturday, the rotation is 7-2 with a 2.51 ERA (21 ER/75.1 IP) since July 21...

¨RHP Virgil Vasquez, who is 4-1 with a 2.68 ERA (11 ER/37.0 IP) in his last 5 GS between NBR and ROC -- allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 4.0 innings in his only other start against Lehigh Valley this season (L; 5/21 @ LHV)

¨Wings pitching has allowed just 2.67 R/G over the last 9 games (since 8-1 loss to LHV on 7/23), allowing more than 3 R just once

IBARRA THE GREAT: Red Wings reliever Edgar Ibarra tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief on Thursday for the Red Wings ... Ibarra has now thrown 24.1 consecutive innings between New Britain and Rochester (7.1 IP) without allowing an earned run -- a span of 19 games over which he has allowed just one run on 9 hits and 2 walks while striking out 22... With Rochester, Ibarra has allowed just one hit and one walk over 7.1 innings (5 G)... The last ER allowed by Ibarra came on May 31 @ Bowie with New Britain.
