Montgomery Biscuits News Release

PEARL, Miss. - The Biscuits (54-55, 17-22) got a go-ahead single from Hector Guevara in the sixth inning and protected their lead late to beat the Mississippi Braves (57-50, 19-18) 3-2 and snap a season-long five-game losing streak Wednesday night at Turstmark Park.

The Biscuits entered the sixth inning trailing 2-1. Mikie Mahtook doubled to lead off the inning, followed by a single from Cameron Seitzer. With runners on second and third, Todd Glaesmann bounced a ball to third that Edward Salcedo threw away trying to force out Mahtook at the plate. With the game tied at two, the Braves intentionally walked Curt Casali to bring up Guevara who came through with a go-ahead RBI-single.

The Braves loaded the bases in the ninth inning with two outs. Juan Sandoval (15) battled Edward Salcedo and got the Braves' third-baseman to ground out to second to end the game. Sandoval earned his 15th save of the season.

Jake Thompson (9-9) turned in another strong start. The righty allowed two runs through seven innings for the win. It was Thompson's tenth quality start in the last 13 starts.

The Biscuits scored first with an RBI-single from Seitzer in the first inning. The Braves took their only lead with a two-run single from Tommy La Stella in the third.

The series-finale is Thursday night at 7:00. LHP Enny Romero will toe the rubber for the Biscuits while LHP Ian Thomas will take the ball for the Braves.
