Baysox and SeaWolves Suspended

Erie, PA - With the scored tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bowie Baysox and Erie SeaWolves were suspended due to rain. The game will pick up tomorrow at 12:05 p.m. followed by another seven inning game. The team's will play an additional doubleheader in August when the Baysox return to Erie.

Caleb Joseph got the scoring started in the second inning with his 18th home run of the season to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, the SeaWolves struck for two to take the lead. James Robbins singled and Wade Gaynor walked to put two runners on. Then Jamie Johnson tied it up with an RBI single to bring home Robbins. Eugenio Suarez followed with an RBI groundout to bring home Gaynor and make the score 2-1.

The Baysox got the run back in the top of the fourth inning. Brandon Waring and Christian Walker started the inning off with back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners. Then with one out and Garabez Rosa at the plate, Drew VerHagen threw a wild pitch to allow Waring to score and make the score 2-2.

Neither starter will end up factoring into the decision. Devin Jones went four innings and allowed two runs on three hits with six strikeouts for the Baysox. Drew VerHagen went five innings and allowed two runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
