Nationals Kevin Cunningham, Tucker Durkin, Cameron Lao-Gosney, Roman Lao-Gosney, Matt Lovejoy, Mike Poppleton, Brett Queener and Garrett Thul will attend the tryouts from August 30-September 1 at Goucher College in Baltimore, Md.
US Lacrosse announced named 98 players to try out for the National Team. Major League Lacrosse is well represented with 83 players, including 13 rookies, invited to the event as U.S. head coach Richie Meade will be looking for the best Lacrosse players to represent the U.S. next year. Following tryouts, US Lacrosse will announce the 40-player U.S. men's national team.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks lead the pack with 17 players including 2010 U.S. national team member Drew Westervelt, Casey Powell who appeared in two World Championships ('98 and '06), and rookie Jesse Bernhardt. The Charlotte Hounds and Hamilton Nationals both have eight players participating in the tryout with rookies Mike Poppelton, Tucker Durkin and Garrett Thul highlighting the Nationals list and Mike Sawyer joining 2010 returnee Chris Schiller on the list of Hounds invited.
Ten players return to try out from the 2010 U.S. men's national team that won gold in Manchester, England. Notable returners include 2010 World Championships MVP and Boston Cannons All-Time leading scorer Paul Rabil, All-World performers Brendan Mundorf (Denver Outlaws) and Max Seibald (New York Lizards), three-time U.S. team members Ryan Boyle (Cannons) and Matt Striebel (Rochester Rattlers), and Rattlers attackman Ned Crotty, who scored the game-tying and game-winning goals to clinch the world title for the U.S. in Manchester.
