Louisville Bats News Release

MOOSIC, Pa. - The Louisville Bats (49-52) held on to a 2-1 victory over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (49-50). The Bats stole four bases as a team in the first five innings, two of those by Billy Hamilton, and scored both runs via the sacrifice fly.

Billy Hamilton led off the game with a single, followed by his 53rd stolen base of season. After advancing to third on a Henry Rodriguez groundout, he gave the Bats a 1-0 lead on a shallow fly out by Felix Perez, who earned 50th RBI of the year.

It was a strange start to the game for Chad Rogers (W, 2-2) whose first pitch of the game plunked David Adams, and Rogers promptly picked him off first base. Rogers settled down nicely and retired the next eight batters of the game.

Headed to the fourth, Rogers had yet to allow a hit or a run. However, Adams eliminated both of those with one swing when he homered to left-center, tying the game at one. Alex Rodriguez followed with a single on a blooper down the right field line, but Rogers didn't allow any further damage.

A-Rod finished the game 2-for-4 with two singles. His second single came via a line drive off the base of the wall in the eighth inning, but he was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double.

The Bats regained the lead in the fifth after a Henry Rodriguez sacrifice fly. Rodriguez drove in Emmanuel Burriss who had reached on a single and stolen base, his 13th on the season.

Burriss finished the game 2-for-4, and was the lone Bat with multiple hits.

Rogers worked into the sixth inning before exiting, but had a solid outing overall. Through 5.2 innings he allowed just one run on the homer, gave up four hits and struck out five, and did not walk a batter.

Bats' relievers picked up Rogers to help get the win. First Zach Duke pitched a scoreless inning, and then Pedro Villarreal (S, 1) entered with two outs in the seventh inning; Villarreal would finish the game to earn the save.

The save was Villarreal's first ever at the Triple-A level, and first since 2010 with the Dayton Dragons.

Billy Hamilton swiped two bases in the game, moving his baseball-leading total to 54. He finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk.

In game three of the four game set against Scranton/WB, the Bats will send RHP Yohan Pino (2-5, 3.46) to the mound to face LHP David Huff (4-4, 3.77) of the RailRiders.
