CT Tigers Hold off Jammers

Jamestown, NY - The Connecticut Tigers (12-17) defeated the Jamestown Jammers (17-12) by a score of 3-2 Wednesday night at Russell Diethrick Park. The CT Tigers scored three runs in the third inning highlighted by a two run triple by SS Curt Powell (3-5) that scored CF Austin Schotts (2-4) and LF Kasey Coffman (1-5) to take 2-0 lead.

The Tigers used four pitchers to combine for the two run victory. Starter LHP Joe Flattery pitched four inning allowing one run on two hits. RHP Austin Pritcher (1-1) picked up his first win of the season pitching three innings of relief work allowing no runs on one hit. RHP Jonathan Maciel pitched 1.2 innings allowing one run on three hits. RHP Zac Reininger picked up his second save. Reininger pitched to one batter 1B Danny Collins (0-4) and got him to lineout to 3B Brett Harrison (1-4) to end the game.

The Tigers struggled with runners on base in the win. As a team they went 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight on base. Powell had a great performance at the plate picking up three hits including a double, triple, run scored, and two RBI's. Powell fell a homerun shy of the cycle.

The Tigers and Jammers play game two of their three-game series Thursday, July 18th at 7:05 p.m. LHP Kevin Ziomek (0-0, 1.50) gets the start for the Tigers. LHP Jackson Lodge (2-1, 3.96) starts for Jamestown. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.

The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers are in their 4th season at Dodd Stadium.
