Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - USA TODAY and 10Best.com have selected Whataburger Field as one of 20 nominees for "Best Minor League Ballpark" in 2013.
Fans have four weeks to vote for Whataburger Field as the nation's top minor league baseball stadium, the winner to be announced August 14.
The Hooks dedicated Whataburger Field on April 17, 2005 against the Midland RockHounds. Over the last nine years the ballpark has earned praise from multiple organizations, including Minor League News, which twice tabbed the facility "best venue in North America."
Views of Corpus Christi's iconic Harbor Bridge and the USS Lexington highlight the ballpark's backdrop, while in-stadium amenities include luxury suites, the Driscoll Children's Hospital Kids Zone, Stripes Diamond, a swimming pool and several group areas. Overhead wood beams, corrugated steel and brick pay tribute to the cotton warehouses which once occupied the site.
Contest rules allow for individuals to vote once each day in the four weeks of the contest. The polling ends August 12 at 11 a.m.
USA TODAY baseball writers selected the nominees for the minor league ballparks category.
