Final Preparations Being Made for All-Star Game

Butler, PA - Final preparations are being made for the 2013 Prospect League All-Star Game, which will take place at Butler's Pullman Park on Wednesday, July 17.

The fifth annual mid-summer game is an all-day event that will include a Pro Scout Workout for players at 3pm and a Home Run Derby at 5pm. A luncheon at the Marriot Pittsburgh North with a guest speaker, a former MLB All-Star and BlueSox' part-owner Matt Clement will kick off the day. Fireworks will close the evening. Six BlueSox players were voted to the East Division team, including starting shortstop Matt Peters, second baseman Ryan Fitzgerald, and centerfielder Taylor Schmidt who leads the League in stolen bases. The East's roster also includes Chillicothe's Daniel Zuchowski and Slippery Rock's Matt Calhoun, who lead the League in home runs on the summer.

The West Division is led by their strong pitching staff, which includes Hannibal's Travis McDonald, whose ERA is just 1.14 over 47 innings. Danville's Troy Conyers, a freshman from the University of San Diego, is slated to start the game. He is leading active players in strikeouts, with 46 on the season. The East Division, which is 3-0-1 in past All-Star Games, will counter with Lipscomb University's Jaesung Hwang, who has allowed just two earned runs and three walks over 46 innings this summer.

A near-sellout is expected for the game, which will include 60 of the best players from around the country. Field level and general admission tickets, for $9 and $8 respectively are still available at ButlerBlueSox.net or by calling 724.256.9994.
