New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

READING, Pa. - Gabe Jacobo broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh to lift the Fisher Cats (45-46) to a 6-3 victory over the Reading Fightin Phils (38-53) on Saturday night. Jack Murphy added a solo blast in the eighth as the Fisher Cats won their eighth straight against Reading and improved to 12-3 against the Phils on the season.

The seventh-inning tie was set up when the teams traded a trio of runs in their respective halves of the second inning. With two outs in the top half, Tommy Manzella drilled a two-run double to right, and then scored on a single from Adam Loewen for a 3-0 lead against Reading starter Brody Colvin (ND). The Phils answered back against Deck McGuire in the bottom of the frame with a two-run homer and a two-out single to knot it up at 3-3.

It stayed that way as both starters settled in, and worked their way out of any subsequent trouble. McGuire worked six full innings to earn the win (W; 5-7), allowing three runs with eight strikeouts. Colvin walked six, but left the game after five innings with the score tied 3-3.

The Fisher Cats took the lead against the Reading bullpen in the seventh. The first pitch of the frame by Hector Neris (L; 3-4) was drilled to deep left by Jacobo to put New Hampshire on top 4-3. An inning later, with one out, Murphy blasted the first pitch over the right field wall to make it a two-run game. An unearned run in the ninth added insurance for Alan Farina's fourth save of the year.

Farina (two innings) combined with Dustin Antolin for three scoreless innings of relief work. The bullpen has now tossed six scoreless in the first two games of the series. The starters, meanwhile, have been as impressive with a pair of quality starts.

The series will come to an end on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Marcus Stroman (5-2, 3.25) takes the ball for the Fisher Cats against Reading righty David Buchanan (5-9, 4.40). Radio coverage begins at 1:35 p.m. with Tom Gauthier on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.

The Fisher Cats return home on Monday, July 15 to begin a three-game series with the Future Red Sox, the Portland Sea Dogs. The three-game set includes two giveaways and an Atlas Fireworks show in the finale. Tickets are available atwww.nhfishercats.com, at the Fisher Cats ticket office, and by calling (603) 641-2005.
