Norfolk Tides News Release

Norfolk used a solid outing from Josh Stinson and three relievers to knock off the Charlotte Knights 4-1 in the opener of a three-game series Friday night at Harbor Park.

Stinson (5-4) earned his second straight victory over the Knights as he surrendered one run on four hits in five-plus innings. Stinson, who yielded an unearned run in seven innings in a win over Charlotte on July 6, walked two and struck out five, throwing 48 of his 83 pitches for strikes. The only blemish on his night was a solo homer hit by Bryan Anderson leading off the fifth frame.

Chris Jones, Manny Delcarmen and Adam Russell followed Stinson with four shutout innings of relief, with the trio combining to allow one hit while striking out four. Russell worked around two walks in the ninth to register his first save of the season.

Danny Valencia, Zelous Wheeler and Yamaico Navarro each had RBI singles in the win, as Norfolk improved to 7-3 against Charlotte this season. The Tides plated all four runs against Knights starter Spencer Arroyo (0-1) who took the loss in his Triple-A debut.

Henry Urrutia singled twice and scored a run, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Urrutia, who will represent the Orioles and the World Team in the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, is now batting .367 over his first 15 games at the Triple-A level.

The two clubs will continue their three-game series on Saturday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch slated for 7:05. Freddy Garcia (4-2, 3.40) will take the hill for Norfolk against right-hander Tony Pena Jr. (2-7, 3.92).
