Seattle Reign FC News Release

SEATTLE, WA - July 12, 2013 - Seattle Reign FC will look to continue their unbeaten streak against the Washington Spirit in front of a national televised audience on Sunday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m. on the Moda Health Pitch at Starfire Stadium. The broadcast on FOX Soccer Channel be the first nationally televised National Women's Soccer League match in league history.

Seattle (3-9-3, 12 pts.) continue to cruise as they are riding a five game unbeaten streak, coming off a 3-2 win in their last match on Thursday, July 11 against the Western New York Flash.

"We are excited about playing Washington," said head coach and GM Laura Harvey. "We have put a lot of things right since we last played, but we need make sure we learn from what happened in our previous game. The result was probably our most disappointing of the season and we need to tighten up on a few things after Thursday to keep the momentum going."

Midfielder Megan Rapinoe notched her second goal of the season for Seattle in Thursday's win, but the player to watch for Reign FC has been midfielder Christine Nairn.

Nairn has been on fire over the last four games, tallying two goals and three assists. Both of her goals were game winners, including Thursday's goal against the Flash and the goal in Seattle's first win against Boston.

"My name might be the one in the newspapers, but the real credit goes to my teammates," said Nairn. "I think the reason we are so successful is because we are playing as a team and being hard to beat. Laura has instilled that in us all season and we are taking pride in turning our season around and proving that we can beat any team in this league."

The match between Seattle and the Washington Spirit (1-9-4, 7 pts.) will be the second match between the two clubs this season. Washington won the first match 4-2 on the Moda Health Pitch at Starfire Sports.

Seattle has to be careful as two of their key players are sitting on four yellow cards - midfielder and leading goal scorer Jess Fishlock, and defender Kaylyn Kyle. One more yellow card for either player will result in a one game suspension.

Seattle will also have newly-acquired Australian midfielder Emily Van Egmond available for roster selection on Sunday. Van Egmond was signed from the Newcastle Jets in the Australian W-League, where she had one goal in nine appearances. Van Egmond has also made eight appearances with the Australian WNT, scoring one goal and serving as co-captain of the squad.

The match against the Washington Spirit will be aired live on the FOX Soccer Channel. This is the first of nine NWSL games, including the three NWSL playoff games, that FOX Sports will broadcast. Play-by-play announcer Steve Cangialosi will call the match alongside Ohio State women's head coach Lori Walker. Retired US WNT star defender Heather Mitts, who played in the Women's Professional Soccer League, will report from the sideline. Due to the broadcast by FOX Sports, the match will not be available via live stream.

Seattle will make its second appearance on the FOX Soccer Channel on Saturday, August 10 when they play the Washington Spirit in the nation's capital at 4 p.m. PST.

Seattle will hit the road for a game against FC Kansas City on Saturday, July 20 before returning home to play the Chicago Red Stars on Thursday, July 25 at 7 p.m. PST at Starfire.

Prices for single match tickets are $26 for Grandstand Premium seating, $22 for Grandstand seating and $19 for Bleacher seating. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ReignFC.com.
