Buffalo Bisons News Release
Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons will face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second game of a two-game series from Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has a 6-3 edge in the season series, and has won all five games played in Lehigh Valley. Deja Vu...Only Smaller
A win tonight would mark the second time this season that the Bisons have swept two consecutive road series in Syracuse and Lehigh Valley. From April 15-22, the Bisons won all eight games of their road trip against the Chiefs and IronPigs.
Today's Starter
RHP CHEIN-MING WANG will make his second start as a member of the Bisons. In his first outing on July 7 against Syracuse, Wang earned the victory as he pitched a complete game in the second game of a doubleheader. He allowed only one run on three hits and no walks.
Making up Ground
The Bisons have now won five games in a row and have climbed to within a half game of the Wild Card lead. Norfolk and Lehigh Valley are currently tied for the top spot. The Herd's current hot streak has also allowed them to make up 5.5 games in the IL North Division race in less than a week. After trailing Pawtucket by nine games on July 6, the Bisons are now only 3.5 games out of first place.
Pillar of Strength
After going 2-4 last night, OF KEVIN PILLAR has now reached base in each his first 21 games with the Bisons. He has failed to get a hit in only three of those games. Since his promotion to Buffalo on June 21, Pillar is 1st in the International League in extra-base hits (15) and 2nd in batting average (.373).
Starting Strong
Bisons starters have posted quality starts in seven of the club's last eight games. Since July 4, the group has combined for a 3.02 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 53.2 innings of work. In that same time period, Bisons starters have walked only six batters.
Bisons Bits
OF ANTHONY GOSE has a six-game hit streak over which has averaged .304 (7-23)...The Bisons are 6-1 in extra-innings games and have outscored their opponents 84-47 from the 8th inning on.
