"Salute to the Boll Weevils" night this Saturday

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 11, 2013) - Get ready for an UNBOLLWEEVIBLE night 14 years in the making.
The Kannapolis Intimidators are hosting Turn Back the Clock to 1999 Night with a Salute to the Piedmont Boll Weevils, the franchise's former moniker, this Saturday, July 13, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. with first pitch against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 7:05 p.m. The Intimidators will wear don special throwback uniforms and takes the field as the Piedmont Boll Weevils, and fans will have a chance to bid on the game-worn uniforms during the game through a silent auction. The Intimidators are offering the 1999 ticket price of $5 for a reserved seat for any fans wearing Boll Weevils apparel on the day of the game.
Fans will also have a chance to enter to win memorabilia signed by former Piedmont Boll Weevils stars who went to enjoy successful careers in the Major Leagues. The team is giving away an autographed Jimmy Rollins Philadelphia Phillies uniform and baseball, a signed Carlos Silva hat, and a bat and baseball autographed by Ryan Madson courtesy of the Philadelphia Phillies. Dozens of other prizes will also be given away throughout the night.
The Intimidators Boll Weevils are rolling back select concessions items to 1999 prices, including hot dogs for $2, hamburgers for $3, soda and peanuts for $2, and 16 oz. draft beers for $2.50. Fans will be able to purchase Boll Weevils shirts and hats inside Intimidation Station souvenir store, which will return to it's former name, the Weevil Warehouse, on this night. The game will feature popular songs from 1999 played throughout the night.
"We're very proud of our team's history," said Intimidators General Manager Randy Long, who began working for the Piedmont Boll Weevils as a seasonal staffer in 1997. "We've received an incredibly positive response from our fans regarding this promotion. Many of them remember seeing Jimmy Rollins, Ricky Williams and a host of other former greats play in Kannapolis as Boll Weevils, and we are excited to connect newer fans to our past."
