The summer is heating up and so are your first-place Cedar Rapids Kernels as they return for a six game home stand. Here's a preview of what you can expect these next six dates:

July 10-12 vs. Dayton

The Kernels open a six game home stand with three games against the Dayton Dragons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, July 10th for Free Money Wednesday. The Kernels are passing out $1,000 to fans as they enter the gates with a top cash prize of $100. The Kernels will recognize the 2013 Cedar Rapids Baseball Hall of Fame Class and Cedar Rapids Baseball Alumni in a ceremony before the game. And the KCRG Weather Academy will be here on the main concourse. Stop by and see the Allegiant Air ARCA race car at the game. First pitch between the Kernels and Dragons is set for 6:35 pm.

It's a Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday when the Kernels host Dayton at 6:35 pm. Fans can get 12 oz. regular draft beer, bottled soda and water for $2, plus $1 off margaritas at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart. The Kernels will recognize participants from the League of Dreams Youth Baseball program before the game, along with the Denison HS Baseball Team and a pre-game performance from Dance Nation. Gates open at 5:30 pm.

Come on down - you're the next on-field contestant as part of Game Show Night at the Kernels. You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Friday, July 12th as the first 1,500 fans through the gates receive a free Kernels Team Photo, thanks to Wells Fargo and Copyworks. It's a 98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club - buy a 16 oz. collectors mug for $6 and get it filled with soda or regular draft beer at the concession stands. Refills are just $3 and bring your mug back to every Friday Kernels home game for $3 refills. First pitch between the Kernels and Dayton is set for 6:35 pm.

July 13-15 vs. Bowling Green

The Kernels continue a six game home stand with three games against the Bowling Green Hot Rods, the Midwest League affiliate of the Tampa Rays.

A BIG night is on tap for Saturday, July 13th. Gates open at 4:00 as first pitch between the Kernels and Hot Rods is set for 5:05 pm. The game will be broadcast live on KCRG 9.2 and following the game, stick around for a concert by JIF and the Choosey Mothers, followed by another Kernels FIREWORKS spectacular at dusk. Fireworks night are VERY popular and great seats sell out quickly, so call the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560 or reserve your tickets on-line at www.kernels.com NOW!

A fun afternoon of baseball is on tap when the Kernels take on Bowling Green at 2:05 pm on Sunday, July 14th. It's a 104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday where fans can run the bases, play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the Kernels on the field after the game. Play Vacation Baseball Bingo, presented by Travel Advisors and the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see the Twins play. World-class juggler, Doug Sayers will be on hand to entertain fans of all ages throughout the game as well as the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon and face painting by Kennedy Wilson. Gates open at 1:00 pm with first pitch between the Kernels and Hot Rods set for 2:05 pm.

Take a break from the office for some daytime baseball! It's the final Kernels noon game of the season when they take on Bowling Green at 12:05 pm. Gates open at 11 and fans can enjoy our Dollar Monday Special where regular hot dogs, small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, chips and Cracker Jack are $1 each. Plus, get $1 taquitos or flautas at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart. Gates for the final Kernels noon game open at 11:00 am.

Free Money Wednesday: Up to $1,000 will be given away at the main gates at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.

98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club: Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug filled with your favorite regular draft beer or soda for just $6.00 and get refills at the Kernels concessions stands for just $3.00. Bring the mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for those $3.00 refills.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
