Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
(Charleston, WV, July 4, 2013): The West Virginia Power fell to the Lexington Legends 3-0 Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. Jason Creasy pitched effectively, but the Power collected only five hits in the game attended by a season-high 5,104 fans.
Lexington scored their first run in the third inning. Raul Mondesi Jr. drew a two-out walk and Mark Threlkeld hit an RBI double, scoring Mondesi. The Legends added two more runs in the eighth on back-to-back singles by Cam Gallagher and Fred Ford, scoring Mondesi and Threlkeld respectively.
Creasy (2-1) took the loss after pitching five innings and allowing only one run on five hits. Leonel Santiago (1-0) earned the win for Lexington by throwing seven shutout innings. John Walter picked up his first save of the season.
West Virginia and Lexington continue their three-game series Friday night. The Power will send Clay Holmes to the mound to pitch against Miguel Almonte. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
