Goodson Lifts Bombers to Victory in First Half Finale

Battle Creek, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers (14-20) used two Matthew Goodson home runs to end the first half of the season on a high note, defeating the Wisconsin Woodchucks (13-21) 3-2 on Wednesday night.

Ryan Lavoie (W, 2-1) went five innings in a spot start for the Bombers. He allowed just five hits and two runs. Ben Dartnell, Caleb Vincent, Todd Eaton, and Kellen Urbon (S, 2) all pitched in for scoreless innings in relief to seal the win.

Goodson's home runs came in the second and fifth innings off Woodchuck starter Danny Young (L, 1-2). Cam Gibson extended his hitting streak to 14 games and his on-base streak to 32 games.

The Bombers hit the road for five games, beginning with a doubleheader tomorrow in Wausau. David Stagg (1-2) will pitch for the Bombers in game one starting at 5:05 ET, and Keegan Yuhl (0-1) will rival the Woodchucks in game two at approximately 8:35 ET.
