Chicago Fire forward Mike Magee voted MLS Player of the Month

July 3, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release

NEW YORK - Chicago Fire forward Mike Magee was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the month of June in the 2013 MLS season.

Since joining the Fire in late May, Mike Magee has scored a goal in each of the team's four league games, helping the Fire remain unbeaten in MLS play during the month of June (3-0-1).

Magee contributed to the team's offense from the start, scoring the insurance goal in his Fire debut, a 2-0 win against D.C. United on June 2. The following week, Magee helped Chicago come back from two goals down to tie the Portland Timbers 2-2 on June 8. With the Fire down 1-0 to the Colorado Rapids on June 19, Magee chipped a penalty kick into the back of the net, sparking another come from behind victory for the Fire.

In the Fire's last League game of the month, Magee scored the game-winning goal and recorded an assist on Dilly Duka's equalizing goal in the Fire's 2-1 victory over the Columbus Crew - Chicago's first road win of the season.

This is Magee's second Player of the Month recognition this year; as a member of the LA Galaxy, he was voted Player of the Month for March 2013.

Magee and the Chicago Fire kick off the month of July when host the San Jose Earthquakes tomorrow, Wednesday, July 3 (8:30 p.m. ET; MLS Live).

The MLS Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
