Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, Tenn. (July 2, 2013) - James Jones delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 15th inning Tuesday as the Generals (6-6) defeated the Barons (7-7) at The Ballpark in Jackson, 3-2. The game was the longest this season for the Generals at 4 hours and 41 minutes. The two teams combined to go 1-for-18 with runners in scoring position. The Generals have taken three of four from Birmingham and won the series. The Generals are now 8-6 against the Barons this season.

The Generals struck first in the bottom of the first Tuesday. After reaching on a fielder's choice, Julio Morban (2-6, 2 R) scored on a two-out double by Ramon Morla (1-6, 2 RBI).

In the fifth, the Generals tacked on another run to hold a slight cushion of 2-0 over the Barons. The run was scored after a bases loaded walk by Morla that allowed Steven Proscia (1-3, R) to cross the dish.

James Gillheeney (7.1, 3,2,2,3,4,1) surrendered his first hit with two outs in the seventh and surrendered his first runs in the eighth. With one runner on, Cody Puckett delivered the heart piercing two-run shot that tied the game 2-2.

The game was quiet for both teams as the relievers dueled and the hitters could not cash in base runners. However, Morban led off the 15th inning with a single and advanced to second via a passed ball. The recently selected All-Star, James Jones (2-6, RBI) delivered the walk-off single to plate Morban for the 3-2 victory.

Right handed reliever Andrew Kittredge (W, 1-1, 2.1,1,0,0,2,1) earned the win on the mound for Jackson as Barons' Josh Romanski suffered the loss.

The series finale is set, as first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. CST. Right hander Chance Ruffin (4-2, 3.38) will start for the Generals and will be opposed by RHP Michael Nix (1-1, 3.86).
