Wichita Wingnuts News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX- The Wichita Wingnuts (28-16) lost 2-1 to the Grand Prairie AirHogs (24-18) at QuikTrip Park on Tuesday night.

Wingnuts' starter Justin Klipp took a tough loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits over seven innings. Klipp walked only one for a fourth consecutive start and struck out four.

The AirHogs scored what proved to be the decisive run in the bottom of the fifth. Kenny Held led off with a line drive single to right field and took third on a hit-and-run single to right from Angel Flores. After Klipp retired Yasutsugu Nishimoto on a flyball to shallow left, Brandon Kendricks drove in Held with a groundball to shortstop.

Klipp kept the Wingnuts within one run by escaping a first and third jam with no outs in the bottom of the sixth.

Wichita was held hitless over the final four innings by starter Josh Strawn and two AirHogs' relievers. Patrick Mincey worked around a walk to John Rodriguez in the top of the ninth to earn the save.

Ryan Pineda led off the bottom of the first with a double down the left field line, took third on a groundout to first from Brandon Pinckney, and scored on Brian Myrow's bloop single to shallow left-center.

The Wingnuts tied the game in the top of the third on Jared McDonald's line drive home run to right.

Strawn earned the win, allowing one earned run on six hits in seven innings. Strawn walked one and struck out five.
