Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

Moosic, Pa. - Following their longest road trip of the season, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) will open up their longest homestand of the season at PNC Field. The nine-game stretch begins with a big celebration on the Fourth of July. The fun does not stop on Independence Day, as the homestand will be filled with even more fireworks, giveaways, and community celebrations.

It all begins on our nation's birthday, as the RailRiders open a series with the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) on July 4. The Pennsylvania Lottery will be giving away free lottery tickets to fans 18 and older. Following the baseball action, fans will be treated to an enormous fireworks show to celebrate the Fourth of July, which is also presented by the Pennsylvania Lottery. The game will also be broadcasted live on MyNetwork TV with the Voice of the RailRiders John Sadak and FOX56 sports director Bob Ide on the call. The game will get underway at 7:05 p.m.

Take your July 4 game ticket and you will receive $5 off a purchase of $20 or more at Mendicino's in Moscow. This dine-in or take-out offer expires on July 31, 2013. The redeemed tickets will also be good for a raffle entry for a $50 Mendicino's gift card for fans that enter their name, address and phone number on the ticket. The winner will be drawn randomly and notified by Aug. 1, 2013.

The fireworks continue on Friday, July 5. The Bisons end their short stay at PNC Field and a pre-game band will be on hand in PNC Field's entrance plaza to welcome fans. After the game, Jack Williams Tire & Auto will present the Friday Fireworks show. Gates will open up at 6 p.m. with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.

SWB will look to gain ground in the IronRail series as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) will travel to PNC Field for the first time this season on Saturday, July 6. Fans will want to get to the ballpark early as the first 2,500 through the gates receive a RailRiders car magnet. As fans stroll through the plaza, they will be entertained by a band welcoming them to PNC Field. Did you not get enough fireworks on Thursday or Friday? A bonus fireworks show will follow the conclusion of Saturday night's contest. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. The game can also be found live on MyNetwork TV with Sadak and Ide again on the call.

The value keeps on coming too. Take your July 6 game ticket to any Luzerne or Lackawanna County Pizza Hut and you will get $5 off any dine-in purchase of $20 or more. There is a limit of one redemption per visit and the offer is valid until July 15, 2013.

The fun starts a bit earlier on Sunday, as gates will open up at noon on Sunday, July 7. NEPA Honda presents another Family Funday. Fans will not have to go far for the fun, as the plaza will have a carnival-like atmosphere that will include face painters and other entertainment. Fans will also be able to get autographs from some of their favorite RailRiders. As always, kids will run the bases after the game. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m.

The RailRiders will honor youth softball in NEPA and players in attendance will be able to participate in a pre-game parade around the field. Hot dogs will be just one dollar to save fans money at the concession stand. First pitch against the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins) is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Fans can have fun in the sun as Tuesday, July 9 provides the joy of day baseball on Camp Day. Enjoy baseball in the middle of the day with a 12:05 p.m. start.

The RailRiders will conclude their series with the Red Wings on Wednesday, July 10. Kids eat free at every Wednesday night game presented by Minooka Subaru. All kids 12 and under will receive a hot dog, bag of chips, and drink for free. The community of Abington will be recognized, as local businesses and organizations will be on hand at PNC Field. The game will also be broadcast live on MyNetwork TV by Sadak and Ide. The game will get underway at 7:05 p.m.

SWB will open up its final home series before the All-Star break and welcome in the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals) on Thursday, July 11. It will be a Thirsty Thursday at PNC Field, meaning Bud Light and Pepsi products will be just one dollar until 8 p.m. Carbondale Community Night and Adult Softball night will both be celebrated, and the first pitch will be tossed at 7:05 p.m.

The nine-game homestand will conclude on Friday, July 12. A pre-game band will provide the sound as fans walk into PNC Field, and the sky above the ballpark will be illuminated following the game by another Jack Williams Tire & Auto fireworks show. It will also be Girls Night Out at the ballpark, and gates will open at 6 p.m.
