PEARL, MS - As announced by Major League Baseball Wednesday, Mississippi Braves catcher Christian Bethancourt was selected to the 15th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game World Roster for the second-consecutive season. The annual event, which takes place on July 14, features the top minor league prospects as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday.

Bethancourt, who originally signed with the Atlanta Braves as a free agent on March 12, 2008, is one of 25 men selected to the World Roster. Entering to the 2013 season, the Panama native was named by Baseball America as the Best Defensive Catcher in the Braves system and was ranked as the third-best prospect in the Braves organization.

The 21-year-old catcher is currently batting .263 in 44 games for Double-A Mississippi. Bethancourt has nine doubles, four homers and 18 RBI, and he has posted a .400 batting average with runners on base. Bethancourt posted his best numbers during the month of April, putting up a .341 average with four doubles, a homer and five RBI.

While Bethancourt is the lone Atlanta Braves representative on the World Roster, he'll counter former M-Braves infielder Joey Terdoslavich on the U.S. Roster. Terdoslavich is the lone Atlanta Braves representative on the U.S. Roster and has posted a .323 average at Triple-A Gwinnett this season. With the G-Braves, Terdoslavich has 24 doubles, one triple, 18 homers and 57 RBI.

The Southern League has three players represented on the U.S. Roster including RHP Archie Bradley (MOB), OF Joc Pederson (CHA) and OF Christian Yelich (JAX). The league also has three players on the World Roster. Those players are LHP Enny Romero (MTG), Bethancourt and INF Arismendy Alcantara (TNS).

The 2013 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game is televised live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MLB.com Sunday, June 14 at 2:00 PM EST. The game is the first event during three days of all-star festivities at Citi Field, culminating with the 84th MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 16.
