Eagles Bring Back Former DU Captain Kyle Ostrow

June 24, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL) Colorado Eagles

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles have announced that they have re-signed forward and former University of Denver captain Kyle Ostrow for the 2013-14 season. Last season Ostrow finished with 27 points in just 46 games for the Eagles, including 12 goals, with eight of those goals coming in the month of March. Despite missing nearly two months of the season after suffering a knee injury in mid-December, Ostrow would go on to finish third on the team in playoff scoring, with three goals and six points, finishing with a plus-6 rating in six post-season contests.

"I'm extremely excited to come back. The Eagles have an unbelievable organization and the fan base is absolutely unreal. They are dedicated to winning a championship and so am I. It made my decision to return very easy," said Ostrow.

"Bringing back a player like Kyle adds such an incredible dimension to, not only what we are trying to accomplish on the ice, but also what we strive to engrain in the dressing room," said Eagles head coach and general manager Chris Stewart. "His leadership has been phenomenal and having served as a captain at DU, we knew that we were getting a special player who could bring that aspect to the Colorado Eagles. Had he not suffered a long-term injury last season, I believe he would have certainly been among the league leaders in scoring and his production in the playoffs is indicative of that," added Stewart.

Ostrow spent the 2011-12 season in the ECHL with the Chicago Express, recording 31 points (11-20-31) in 59 games. He also saw time in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans, his second stint in the AHL after leaving DU following the 2010-11 season.

In four seasons with the Pioneers, the 5-foot-11-inch forward tallied 105 points (55-50-105) in 158 games and was named an assistant captain and captain in his final two seasons. Ostrow was also named Team MVP in his senior season.
