Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

Mequon, Wis. - Ryan Krill exploded for two monster two-run home runs Friday night as the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-6) defeated the Battle Creek Bombers (9-7) 9-2.

Bombers' starter Alex Tukey (L, 0-1) gave up five runs early over three innings and Chinook pitching was able to silence the Bomber bats. Tukey gave up a two-run home run to Krill in the third inning, part of a three run inning. The Bombers committed three errors in the first three innings and let the Chinooks steal five bases in the game.

Chinooks' starter Joe Greenfield (W, 1-0) was superb throughout his six innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six. The only runs the Bombers could manage were two sacrifice flies in the sixth and ninth innings, but by then the game was out of hand.

Krill hit a second home run to the same spot in right field off Caleb Vincent in the sixth, part of a four run inning. Mike Hollenbeck and Chris Manning each added RBI-doubles in Lakeshore's win.

The two teams are back at it tomorrow for the second of a three game set. Ryan Lavoie will get his first start of the season as first pitch is set for 7:35 ET.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in America. For information on tickets call (269) 962-0735 or visit BattleCreekBombers.com.
