Round Rock Defeats RedHawks, 11-2, in Series Opener

Oklahoma City - Three home runs fueled the Round Rock Express to an 11-2 win against the Oklahoma City RedHawks Friday in front of a sellout crowd of 10,098 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Express (38-31) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning and went on to take the opener of a four-game series between the teams. The win also moved Round Rock ahead of Oklahoma City (35-30) and into first place in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division.
Five Round Rock players had two hits each and Joey Butler had a game-high three RBI for the Express. Jonathan Villar went 2-for-4 for the RedHawks.
Round Rock's Jim Adduci hit a home run to right-center field for a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Jared Hoying tripled in the next at-bat, then scored on a single from Engel Beltre for a 2-0 edge. RedHawks starting pitcher Ross Seaton walked five of the next six batters he faced and three-straight bases-loaded walks put Round Rock ahead, 5-0.
The RedHawks opened the bottom of the fourth inning with three-straight hits, including a RBI single from Brett Wallace to score Villar for Oklahoma City's first run of the night with no outs. A sacrifice fly to center field by Justin Maxwell scored Jake Elmore for Oklahoma City and cut the score to 5-2.
Butler's two-run home run to center field put Round Rock in front, 7-2, in the fifth. Beltre homered to right field to lead off the sixth inning and give Round Rock an 8-2 lead. The Express went on score three more times in the sixth inning for an 11-2 lead.
The eleven runs allowed by Oklahoma City were the most since a 12-2 loss at Albuquerque April 23 and were the most allowed by the RedHawks at home since a 12-5 loss to Omaha July 31, 2012 in Bricktown.
Seaton (2-6) allowed 10 runs on 10 hits, walked six and struck out three over 5.0 innings in the loss. Jason Stoffel threw 2.0 innings before right fielder Andy Simunic pitched 1.1 innings, walking two and allowing one run. Che-Hsuan Lin threw the final 2/3 of the ninth inning, allowing no hits or runs, in his first career pitching appearance.
Scott Richmond (2-1) who started for Round Rock Friday got the win on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three.
Oklahoma City's current series against Round Rock continues at 7:05 p.m. Saturday on a Giveaway Night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive an Oklahoma City RedHawks souvenir baseball.
